Wanting your hands free without blowing the budget is usually the first reason people look at robot vacuums. Here’s what I found after unboxing and living with a Xiaomi robot vacuum-mop — navigation, cleaning power, and the app experience, all in one place.

First-time setup means downloading the app, linking your account, and letting the robot run one full mapping pass — the whole process took about 15-20 minutes, easier than I expected.
1. Navigation and Mapping
In a two-bedroom, one-living-room layout, the first mapping run let every cleaning session after that follow a clean room-by-room pattern. You can also set no-go zones and virtual walls in the app to keep it away from cable clutter. The logic is solid — it rarely double-cleans one area while missing a corner elsewhere.
2. Cleaning Performance
- Hardwood floors: Picks up hair and dust cleanly, and the roller brush resists tangling
- Carpet: Suction auto-boosts on carpet, but deep cleaning still can’t match a handheld vacuum
- Mopping: Handles light surface grime fine, but oil stains and stubborn spots still need manual attention
Overall it’s more than enough for day-to-day floor maintenance, but if you have heavy carpet or kids spilling food, plan on a periodic manual deep clean too.
3. App and Smart Features
The app is intuitive — scheduling, room selection, cleaning history maps, and voice assistant integration are all there. The one downside: the cloud map occasionally needs recalibrating, especially after moving large furniture around.

If your goal is “keep the floors decent day to day and cut down on manual sweeping,” this delivers more than enough at a fairly approachable price. But if you lean heavily on deep cleaning or have a lot of carpet, pairing it with a handheld vacuum for spot cleaning is the better combo.
